A blog, when used properly, is a great way to grow your business online. If you have a blog on your website or are considering starting one, you can use it to share great content and grow your audience.
Your blog is considered the home base for your content online; however, sharing content is not your only goal. If blogging is a part of your relationship marketing plan, then you need to be very strategic in how you use it in order to get more business.
Here are four smart ways to use a blog to grow your business:
- Turn readers into leads
A great way to grow your business is to increase leads, and a great way to increase leads is to turn your blog readers into email subscribers. Once this happens, you can then “lead” your subscribers into what you offer and how you can be a solution for them. Your email list is the core of your online business and is one of the best ways to communicate with your prospects. So how do you turn readers into leads? You invite them to join your email list by strategically placing links and invites throughout your blog content.
Offering additional content that supplements the blog content they are currently reading works very well. This is known as a “content upgrade” and can include something like a checklist, eBook, guide, etc. You ask for the reader’s email address in exchange for that content to build your list with qualified leads.
Another strategy is simply to ask your readers to join your email list and be a part of your community with a strong call to action at the end of your blog posts.
- Turn leads into prospects
Once you have a lead, your next goal is to turn that lead into a prospect or a potential or likely client. The best way to do this is through your email campaigns. After they have joined your list, then it is important to strategically and consistently reach out with your blog content, business offers and other relevant and valuable content. Over time, some leads will sign up for a consultation, demo, get acquainted call, etc. and will then become a prospect.
- Turn prospects into clients
Once you have built a solid relationship with your prospect, shared useful information over a period of time and made offers via email, then the next logical step is for your prospect to become your client. The time period for this to happen will vary. It can be as short as a couple of days or as long as a couple of years. Either way, it is important to show your expertise and share your blog posts via your email campaigns consistently so that your prospects can get to know, like and trust you enough to become your client.
- Turn clients into repeat clients
Once you have a client, your goal should not be a one-time sale but multiple repeat sales. A great way to achieve repeat sales is to highlight the needs of your clients through your blog posts and share solutions with them. If they like your products and services, they will be inclined to be a repeat client of your other offers.
These are just four ways in which you can get business from your blog posts. Are you using any of these strategies for your blog? If so, share which one you have been using and how it has been working for you in the comments below.
